# Slash & Prefix Commands

> Use slash commands or a custom text prefix

## Overview

Bloxiana supports both slash commands and a per-server text prefix, which you can customize.

Prefix (text) commands are being phased out in favor of slash `/` commands on October 1, 2026. Bloxiana already supported prefix commands and held Discord's Message Content privileged intent.

Under [Discord's updated intent policy](https://support-dev.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/40281523410967-Changes-to-Privileged-Intent-Access-for-Discord-Apps), apps now have to reapply for that access once a year to keep it, and prefix commands are no longer accepted as a valid reason to hold the intent. Continuing to use them would just get the intent denied at the next review, even after a successful renewal. Since slash commands don't rely on Message Content at all, we're dropping it and moving fully to `/` commands. We recommend switching over now.
